Topic of interest

I decided to research about out door air pollution in South Korea.  Out door air pollution has been major environmental problem recently.  Mainly it is from China every specific seasons.  I would apply the lessons I have learned from the class into the Korea.  In particular, how it affects to the vulnerable population such as children or the old.  Also, I want to find out which part of Korea is more affected by air pollution from China.  Finally, I will research about how government regulate the air pollution compared to United Stated.  I would like to know any suggestion that I can write about!  So please feel free to write the comments about it!  Thanks!!

  1. Hi Yeana,

Great topic choice! It is always interesting to learn about international perspectives. I have never traveled to Asia, so I cannot relate first-hand to how poor the air quality is. However, I remember reading an article about people selling bottles of "fresh" air to residents in China, which gives the impression that air quality is of major concern. In December 2015, Beijing issued the first red alert for dangerous air quality. I can only imagine how China's air pollution also affects nearby countries. I look forward to learning more from you!

  2. Hello Yeana,

This is a really interesting topic. I can see how much of the air pollution that is present in South Korea would come from China, as China probably has much less in terms of air quality regulations. It would be interesting to see which part of South Korea is most affected by the pollution coming from China. I wonder what the South Korean government is currently attempting to do to combat this, and what could be done to get China to better regulate their air quality? It appears that the topic you selected would involve both China and South Korea, as the air quality of both countries is associated with one another.
