In particular, the services for children focus on their health because children's health is important part of public health. They can learn well when they are healthy. The communities will be surrounded by more healthy adults after growing up. Also, I was impressed by how my county made an effort for the residents to improve their health. The one thing I found interesting was called "Healthy worksite environmental assessment tool". Since the health of an organization is contingent upon the health of its workforce, it is significant to investigate the specific risk factor of health in the county. For example, the heart disease is second leading cause of death in Santa Clara County. In recent research, 50% of Santa Clara County residents have one or more risk factors for diabetes. Although chronic disease such as heart disease is reason for health problems, having healthy lifestyle can prevent the residents as well. Therefore, this worksite can "play a leading role in creating healthier work environments where healthy lifestyle choice are the easy choice through a comprehensive health promotion program". They are already reducing chronic disease by using the Healthy Worksite Environmental Assessment Tools. The followings are the prioritized efforts :

Hi Yeana,
ReplyDeleteI appreciate the perspective you took on this assignment. It was interesting to learn about worksite health and how companies are trying to make improvements to have a healthier workforce. I would like to learn more about the Active Living Healthy Eating Center. It sounds like they are also doing great work to improve our community.
Hello Yeana,
ReplyDeleteThis is a very thorough list of environmental services. I enjoyed reading about the Healthy Worksite Environmental Assessment Tool. It appears to be a very specific measure to assess the health of the workforce within Santa Clara, and to create prevention efforts targeted at this population. I wonder what the specific risk factors are that place the residents of Santa Clara at-risk for diabetes? Also, how do the rates of diabetes within Santa Clara compare to the rest of the Bay area?
